School from Home - Day 4 - Part 3: Delicious Dinner

Hello Readers,

Today's last activity was to make dinner for my family. I made chicken tenders with wedges, carrots, and peas. The chicken tenders were pre-bread-crumbed so all I had to do was cook them. I decided to make this meal because it was very easy and yummy. Here is the photo.

Firstly I put the chicken on a greased tray and put them in the oven at 210 degrees for 20 minutes. While they were in the oven I cut up the potatoes and boiled them, after they were boiled I seasoned them with chicken salt, onion salt, and garlic powder. After they were seasoned I put them in the oven with the chicken and waited for them to be cooked. While they were cooking I cut and boiled the veggies then served everything to my family. What is your favourite meal?

See you tomorrow!

School from Home - Day 4 - Part 2: Princess Leia

Hello Readers,

Today's second blog post is a drawing I did of Princess Leia from Star Wars. I have admired her since I first watched the movies because of her being a great strong female character. I drew her in the same style as I drew Eleven because it is easy to draw and looks cool. Here is my drawing.

A few things I would change are: her ears - in the movies, her ears are covered by her hair, her eyebrows - I need to move her hairline up so she can have eyebrows and a forehead, and her hands - her hands are an odd shape and it was supposed to look like her hand was on her hip but it doesn't really look like it. But other than that I'm pretty proud of the results. Who should I draw next?

School from Home - Day 4 - Part 1: Prisoner of Azkaban

Hello Readers,

It's the start of a new day in lockdown and I have made another book cover. This time it's for the 3rd book in the Harry Potter series, 'Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban'. Here it is.

Front

This is my favourite out of all my Harry Potter book covers because it incorporates all the aspects I want while also looking good. Tomorrow I'm making a cover for 'Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. What is another book series I could do?

School from Home - Day 3 - Part 3: Super Symmetry

Hello Readers,

Today's last post is a piece of rotational symmetry art using my name. This is where it looks the exact same when you rotate it. Mine isn't perfectly symmetrical because I made a few mistakes but it is pretty close. Here is my first attempt.

As you can see it is still rotational symmetry because it looks the same but it wasn't quite what I was wanting so I decided to try again and this time I would make the letters connect.
Here is my second attempt.

I liked this one much better so I continued to color in and finish this one. Here is the completed artwork.

I really like my completed picture but next time I would make it a lot neater and use a pencil first because I just went straight in with the sharpie and I couldn't rub out my mistakes. What kind of art do you like to do?

See you tomorrow!

School from Home - Day 3 - Part 2: Chamber of Secrets

Hello Readers,

For my second post today I made a book cover for the second book in the Harry Potter series. I like this one better than the first one because it is simpler and has better colours. Here it is.

Back

I found the image on the front first and that inspired the rest of the cover. Tomorrow I will continue the series and design a cover for 'Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban'. Who is your favorite Harry Potter character? Mine's Severus Snape.

See you next time!

School from Home - Day 3 - Part 1: Eleven Drawing

Hello Readers,

For today's first activity I decided to draw Eleven from Stranger Things. I didn't use a tutorial to drew her so it isn't perfect but I still like it. Here is the picture.

I made her a cartoon so it was easier for me to draw, which is why her head is very big for her body. Who should I draw next?

School from Home - Day 2 - Part 3: Perfect Praetorian Guard

Hello Readers,

You might not know this about me but I am a huge Star Wars fan. The final post for today is a piece of artwork I draw featuring one of Supreme Leaders Smoke's bodyguards.  I think these characters are really cool with their sleek red armor and long sword. Here is my picture.

I used a tutorial on Art Hub to draw it and I was super excited to see that they had this character. Are you a Star Wars fan?

See you tomorrow!

School from Home - Day 2 - Part 2: Discover Darcey Bussell

Hello Readers,

It's my second post for today and the task is to research a famous person you look up to and make a presentation about them. I chose Darcey Bussell who is a retired principal ballerina.
I chose to do my presentation on her because I am an aspiring ballet dancer who has looked up to Darcey since I was 4 years old. Here is my presentation.

Darcey Bussell

As you can see from the video she is an amazing ballet dancer whether you are technical about it or not. Who have you admired since you were very young?

School from Home - Day 2 - Part 1: Philosopher's Stone

Hello Readers,

It's day 2 of school from home and I have 3 more blog posts for today. The first one is another book cover but this time I used one of my favorite books, 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone'. I found it harder to design a cover for an already existing book because I couldn't use my imagination so much. Here it is.

Front

Back

As you can see I really tried to include things from the book into my design, like the lightning, stone and iconic Harry Potter font. Next time I will try to use better colours because I don't like these ones very much. Tomorrow I will be doing the next book in the series 'Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets'. Have you read Harry Potter, if so what book is your favorite, mine's 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince".

See you later!

School from Home - Day 1 - Part 3: Mind Boggling Puzzle

Hello Readers,

This is my 3rd and final blog post for today and it's about puzzles. I did two puzzles on the website jigsaw planet and they were super fun. The first one I did was a photo of Barb from and Eleven from Stranger Things with Noah Schnapp who stars as Will Byers in Stranger Things dressing up as them. Here is a screenshot of before and after I did it.

The second one I did is a photo of Steve and Nancy from Stranger Things.

As you can probably tell my favourite tv show is Stranger Things and I will be rewatching it during the self-isolation time. What is your favourite tv show?

See you tomorrow!

School from Home - Day 1 - Part 2: Amazing Outdoor Art

Hello Readers,

This is my second self-isolation blog post for today, and this time it is a piece of abstract art I made using things I found in my garden. It is inspired by the Maori Korowai cloaks. They used feathers for their traditional cloaks but I used leaves because I didn't have enough feathers. They are made by layering lots of feathers to make a really cool texture.
Here it is.

I made it using: tape, paper, and fallen leaves. At first, I tried using glue to stick the leaves to the paper, but that didn't work very well because the glue wouldn't dry, so instead I taped the leaves to the paper which worked heaps better. It took a while to make but I am really happy with the results. Have you heard of korowai cloaks? If not google them because they are really cool.

See you later!

School from Home - Day 1 - Part 1: Beautiful Book Cover

Hello Readers,

The next weeks on my blog are going to be slightly different due to the COVID19 virus. Even though school has shut I will still be posting on my blog with the work I am doing while we are in self-isolation. The first activity I have done is to make a book cover using Canva. I didn't know if we were supposed to use a book that already existed or make one up so I decide to make one up. I don't know if a book called 'Dear Lucy.' exists, but if it does the cover is not for that book. Here it is.

Front

Back

My cover design is pretty bright and colorful which would help it stand out on a bookshelf. I included some reviews on the bottoms so that customers could see what other people think.
What activities are you doing during the COVID19 lockdown?

See you later!

My Perfect Pepeha!

Hello Readers!

This Friday I finished my Pepeha and I think it looks really awesome. If you don't know a pepeha is a way Maori use to introduce themself. It tells people their ancestors and tribe so that other people can make connections with them easily. Here is mine.

As you can see my pepeha is really straight to the point and immediately tells you where I'm from and my family. I used Bitmoji to get my little pictures on my slides.  Have you made a pepeha before?

Super Scratch Samoan Numbers

Hello Readers,

My last blog post was a video showing the numbers from one to ten but this week it is an interactive scratch program. First press the green flag then just type in your number and the magical toad will translate it into Samoan for you, then wait a few seconds and try a different number. If you type a number higher then 10 he will just ignore you. Here it is.

As you can see it is really fun and easy to use, it was pretty easy to make as well, the photo underneath it a screenshot of how to make it so you can recreate it for another language if you want. It is very easy to learn Samoan numbers because they are so similar to Te Reo numbers. Have you ever used Scratch?

See you next time!

Super Samoan Numbers

Hello Readers,

Today my friend India (go check out her blog) and I made a video showing how to count to ten in Samoan. If you saw my last Samoan blog post we made a stop motion animation but this time we made a Biteable video.
Here it is.

If you have learnt how to count to ten in Te Reo then it will be very simple to learn in Samoan as the numbers are very similar. As you can see the images in the background aren't very related to the numbers but we thought they were fun so we added them in. Have you ever used Biteable?

See you next time!

Brilliant Binary Coding

Hello Readers,

Welcome back to my blog, this week on Wednesday we are learning computer language or binary code. Binary code is the language that computers use and it only has 1 and 0. We made a drawing and had to code it using these numbers. Here it is.

0000000000
1110000111
0000000000
0100000010
0100000010
0000110000
0000110000
0000110000
0100000010
0010000100
0001111000
0000000000
0000000000
0000000000

As you can see this is only the code and not the picture. Your job is to turn this into a picture by making a 10 by 16 grid and filling in the 1 spaces with black. Have you ever heard of binary?

See you next time!

My Superb Sestina

Hello Readers,

Today in Literacy we have been writing poems for NZ writing. These poems will be sent to our partner school in Hamilton. Here is my poem.

I saw the ground beneath me
I remember the airless, floating feeling

My brother beside me was terrified

I’m leaping out onto the clouds

We are flying to our paradise

Jellyfish die in the blue sky

The poems had to be six-line poems that have to have six words in each line. The first line was something you saw, the second was something you remember, the third was a person you were with, the fifth was something you imagined and the sixth could be anything.
What would you write about?

See you next time!
