Hello Readers,
Welcome back to my blog, this post is similar to my last blog post, except it's a different organization this time. This time it's about Women's Refuge.
Women's Refuge is all about helping women who are going through family violence. They provide shelter and safe space for women to getaway. Here is my poster.
As you can see I made the colors really focus around the logo which helps it stand out. I wanted to make it really straight the point and simple to get my message across. What poster do think I should do next?
See you next time!
I was a pupil at Marshland School and this blog is where I shared my learning. This blog has been archived, no further content will be uploaded or added. You are welcome to continue viewing posts, however commenting has been disabled.

Awesome Organisations
Hello Readers,
In Inquiry, we have been learning about and researching local places to get help. It is important to know places that you can go to if you need it.
Today we were told to focus on a certain organization, Me and my friend Mia (check out her blog), chose to look at SPCA because we have both animals from there. If you didn't know the SPCA is an organization that rescues animals and then people can come and adopt them. We made a poster that advertises the SPCA, here it is.

The SPCA rescues all types of animals including farm animals. So if you want a new pet or you think someone is mistreating an animal please give the SPCA a call and they will be happy to help. Have you ever been to the SPCA before?

My Interesting Identity
Hello Readers,
We also made a family tree which had to showcase where our family was from.
I was born in Cornwall which is a little place in the UK, I lived here until I was 6 then I moved to NZ. My Dad's side of the family is from NZ and my Mum's side is from the UK. My Mum has three brothers and they all moved to different countries in the world, which is why my cousins are all from different places. Is your family from a country other than NZ?
See you next time!
On Fridays after Kapa Haka, we have been learning about our cultures and researching about the places that we are from. Here is a my drawing.

Sensational Sports
Hello Readers,
During Numeracy this week we have been trying to make questions and data, based around a sport. My sport is Netball and I am focusing on how much the netball players are paid.
I have never played Netball before so it was tricky to pick a focus that wasn't so related to the actual sport. Here is a spreadsheet that has some of my questions and the data type.

As you can see the questions aren't very focused on the sport and are more focused on how much money they make. Have you played netball before?

Samoan Animation
Hello Readers,
On Wednesday before Tech we have been learning Samoan. It is important to try and learn different languages at school because you might visit that country in the future.
Last week we learned about the alphabet, here is the animation I made.

As you can see the Samoan alphabet is much shorter than the English one.
I hope you have learned some more information about Samoa and their language.
See you next time.
Crazy Character Creation
Hello Readers,
This week in literacy we have been focusing on character creation and diving deep into their backstory. This will help us when we start writing our narrative. It is important to have a good character so that readers feel attached to the story.
Here is my character map for my narrative.

My character is called Perry the Pig and as you can see he is a swimming pig. I thought that it would be easier to write about an animal but it turned out quite difficult. What are you writing about this term?

10 Brilliant Ways to Have a Better Conversation
Hello Readers,
This term in Inquiry we have been focusing on relationships within our school and community. Conversation plays a huge role in building our relationships and connections with people.
We watched a TED talk by Celeste Headlee that talked about the 10 ways to have a better conversation. Then our teachers made us make an animation that explains them.
Here is the animation I made with my friend India.
Here are the 10 ways written out.
1. Don't multi-task
2. Ask open-ended questions
3. If you don't know say you don't know
4. Don't compare your experiences with others
5. Don't repeat yourself
6. Don't pontificate - or act like you are better
7. Go with the flow - let thoughts go in and out, don't hold onto them
8. Be brief
9. Don't focus on the details
10. LISTEN
Now that we know this information we have to put it to the test. Every Friday from 11:30 until 12:30 we are put with people we don't usually talk to and made to play board games with them. This is a really fun way to practice our conversation skills and build relationships with new people. Do you like talking to new people?

Individuality Portrait!
Hi Readers!
At the start of this term, we had to make a portrait so that people could get to know us.
The artist that we based our ideas on was Romero Britto. He is known for his colorful, abstract portraits. Here is my portrait.
As you can see my portrait is very bright and colorful. The background had to feature things that we like to do and our culture.
My portrait has waves because I like swimming, art supplies because I like to draw, A dancer because I do ballet. It also has my pet dog George, who is a mini schnauzer. I collect cacti so I put that in the background too. I have the Netflix logo because I watch lots of TV.
I was born in the UK but I live in NZ, so I included both of those flags. Where are you from?
