Spanish Llama Animation

Hello Readers,

For two weeks this term our class is learning Spanish. While the other groups in the class have been at school swimming, other groups have been learning Spanish. Today we learned some basic greetings, here is an animation I made showing two llamas having a basic conversation in Spanish.

As you can see the conversation is very basic because we haven't gone very in depth yet. Llamas are one of my favourite animals, did you know llama has properly pronounced "yama"?

See you next time!

Inuit Culture Slide

Hello Readers,

For Inquiry, we have been doing rotations and learning about different cultures, this time it is learning about the Inuit culture. Inuit live in very cold places and are sometimes referred to as Eskimos, but this is offensive to them because they are not Eskimos. Here is a slide answering a lot of questions about the Inuit culture.

As you can see the Inuit are a culture that survives by using nature, they use snow to make their houses and they catch their own food. Have you ever heard of Inuit before?

See you next time!

E-astell writing test

Kia Ora readers, we have been practicing for the easttle writing test, this is the story I wrote in
45 minutes, it isn't quite finished yet and the prompt was, The day things started disappearing.
Do you practice for your writing easttle?

Sophie woke up as soon as her alarm went off at 6; am and rolled out of bed. She was the early bird and got ready while the rest of her family stayed in bed to sleep, Everything was normal, or so she thought. As the clock rung 7:00 she glanced up at the window just above the kitchen bench, to see the sunrise as it always does at this time. Except for this time, there was no sunrise, the moon still stood still in the night and the only bird in earshot was the owl on the roof.
“That’s odd,” thought Sophie as she opened the door to say hello to the early morning joggers.
But there were no joggers with the cheery faces and happy smiles.

This is when she began to worry, “Why has the sun not risen, and why are Carol, Lindsay,
and Raymond not jogging down the street?” she thought for a minute then decided she would
still take the bus to school and try not to think about. So she left the house and walked down the
bus stop getting ready to greet all her friends there. But her friends were nowhere in sight.
Now she really was worried but told herself that it was flu season and they might just be sick.
She waited patiently on the bus stop just outside Docey’s market. “This feels very odd to be
sitting here waiting while the moon is still in the sky,” she thought. When she got tired of
waiting she went to take her phone out of her pocket to play some games, it was only then
when she realized she was still in her pajamas. She couldn’t wear her pajamas to school
so she sprinted back to her house........

Animal patterns

In maths, we have been finding patterns in shapes as they grow. The equation for my turtle pattern is age x 4 x 2 +25= the total amount of blocks in my turtle. Can you work out how many blocks would be in my turtle when it is at age 127?
